Privy alternatives for Shopify in 2026: 10 popup and email capture apps compared

By Primož Iršič, founder of Kodra Apps · · 8 min read

As of October 24, 2026, Privy's Shopify App Store listing says the app is not currently available. Here are 10 options with their public App Store pricing, checked the same day.

Key takeaways

  • Privy's App Store listing showed "not currently available" on October 24, 2026. If you still run it, contact Privy Operations about support and billing.
  • Split the job in two: list capture (popups) and sending (email, SMS). You may need one tool or two.
  • Email platforms like Klaviyo and Omnisend include forms. Popup builders like OptiMonk, Poptin, Justuno and Wisepops focus on onsite campaigns.
  • Gamified apps like Wheelio, Wheelify and Kodra Play focus on game popups with discount codes.
  • Pricing models differ a lot: contacts, pageviews, visitors, impressions or popup revenue. Model your own numbers before Black Friday.

Disclosure: Kodra Apps makes Kodra Play, one of the apps in this list. All other details come from each app's public Shopify App Store listing.

What happened to Privy on the Shopify App Store?

When we checked on October 24, 2026, the Privy listing said: "This app is not currently available on the Shopify App Store. If you have support questions, contact Privy Operations directly."

AppWatch saw the same message on October 19, 2026 and notes that it does not know the exact date the app came down. The listing does not give a reason, and we do not guess at one here.

What this means for you:

  • New stores cannot install Privy from the App Store while the listing is unavailable.
  • Existing users should contact Privy Operations about support and billing, as the listing suggests.
  • Everyone with Black Friday on November 27, 2026 should have a backup plan for popups and email capture now.

What should a Privy replacement cover?

Privy did several jobs at once. Before you compare apps, list which of these you actually used.

List capture

Popups, flyouts, bars, embedded forms, exit intent, spin to win or other games, discount codes.

Sending

Welcome emails, abandoned cart flows, newsletters, SMS.

Data

Where your subscribers live. If they are Shopify customers with email marketing consent, they appear in the Email subscribers segment in your Shopify admin (Shopify Help Center), and any tool that syncs Shopify customers can use them.

If you only used Privy for popups, a popup app plus your current email tool is enough. If you used it for sending too, look at a full email platform.

How do the 10 Privy alternatives compare on price?

All prices below are taken from each app's Shopify App Store listing on October 24, 2026, billed in USD. Plans and limits change, so check the listing before you decide.

Which Privy alternatives for Shopify are full email marketing platforms?

Pick one of these if you also need to replace sending.

Klaviyo

Klaviyo's listing covers email, SMS, WhatsApp, mobile push and pop-ups, with a free tier inside Shopify Admin for up to 250 active profiles and 500 emails a month. Paid email starts at $20 a month for 251 to 500 contacts. Note that billing is based on active profiles, so check how your list size affects the price.

Omnisend

Omnisend's listing includes email, SMS, web push, popups and signup forms, including spin to win. The free plan covers emailing up to 250 people and 500 emails a month. Standard starts at $16 a month for up to 500 contacts and rises with your list.

Shopify Forms (with Shopify Messaging)

Shopify Forms is free and made by Shopify. It adds inline and popup forms, can include discounts and saves submissions in your Shopify admin. Shopify suggests pairing it with an email app such as Shopify Messaging to send newsletters. The listing does not list game formats.

Which Privy alternatives are popup builders?

Pick one of these if you keep your current email tool and only need onsite campaigns.

OptiMonk

OptiMonk's listing focuses on AI-built popups, targeting and A/B tests, with spin the wheel and games among its pop-up types. The free plan includes 10,000 pageviews a month. Paid plans start at $29 a month.

Poptin

Poptin combines popups, embedded forms and email automation. Its free plan covers 1,000 visitors a month, and paid plans start at $19 a month for 5,000 visitors and 500 active contacts.

Justuno

Justuno lists AI popups, quizzes, spin to win and an anonymous visitor ID feature, plus done-for-you services. Plans start at $59 a month for up to 10k monthly unique visitors, with a 14-day trial.

Wisepops

Wisepops covers popups, web push, a notification feed and embeds, with A/B testing and AI product recommendations. The listing shows one plan at $299 a month for up to 500k pageviews, with a 14-day trial.

Which Privy alternatives focus on gamified popups?

Pick one of these if games and discount codes were the part of Privy you used most. For more on game formats, see our guide to the spin wheel popup alternative for Shopify.

Wheelio

Wheelio offers wheel, scratch card and slot machine popups for email, SMS, push and Messenger leads. There is no free plan. Pricing starts at $14.92 a month for up to 30,000 impressions, with a 7-day trial.

Wheelify

Wheelify is a spin wheel popup with A/B testing, exit intent and an anti-cheat feature for one discount win. The free Starter plan covers up to 300 wheel impressions, and fixed plans start at $9.99 a month with unlimited impressions.

Kodra Play

Kodra Play shows a 15-second paddle, flipper or pong game instead of a wheel. Visitors enter their email, play, and win a unique single-use code that is applied at checkout automatically. Emails are saved as Shopify customers with marketing consent when given, so your email tool can use them.

It is free until the popup brings you $500 in sales a month. The app is hosted in Frankfurt (EU) and does not store visitor names or emails on its own servers.

Moving away from Privy before Black Friday? The Kodra Play team can set up your first popup with you for free after you install. See Kodra Play features and pricing.

How do you switch from Privy without losing subscribers?

Use these steps whichever app you choose.

  1. Check where your subscribers are. Open Customers in Shopify and look at the Email subscribers segment. If you also have contacts outside Shopify, export them and make sure you have consent records.
  2. Write down your live campaigns. Note each offer, trigger, discount code and the pages it shows on.
  3. Install the new app and set up one popup first. Start with your main welcome offer. Kodra Play users can follow the setup guide in the docs.
  4. Turn off the old popup so visitors never see two at once. Check your theme's App embeds.
  5. Test a full order. Sign up, get the code, add a product and check that the discount applies.
  6. Check consent. Make sure new subscribers show up with email marketing consent in Shopify.
  7. Rebuild your welcome email in your email tool if Privy sent it before.

Choose by job, then by price

There is no single replacement for Privy that fits every store. Decide whether you need capture, sending or both. Then compare pricing models against your real traffic, before BFCM week.

If games and unique codes are what you need, try Kodra Play on your store first.

FAQ

Is Privy still available on Shopify?

When we checked on October 24, 2026, Privy's Shopify App Store listing said the app is not currently available, and asked merchants with support questions to contact Privy Operations directly. New stores cannot install it from the App Store while that message is shown. Check the listing for the latest status.

What is the closest alternative to Privy for Shopify?

It depends on what you used Privy for. For email and SMS sending plus forms, look at Klaviyo or Omnisend. For popups only, OptiMonk, Poptin, Justuno or Wisepops. For game popups with discount codes, Wheelio, Wheelify or Kodra Play. Match the tool to the jobs you actually need.

Is there a free Privy alternative for Shopify?

Yes, several have free plans. Shopify Forms is free. Klaviyo, Omnisend, OptiMonk, Poptin, Wheelify and Kodra Play list free plans with limits, such as contacts, pageviews, impressions or popup revenue. Compare those limits with your traffic, because a free plan you outgrow in BFCM week can get expensive.

Will I lose my Privy subscribers if I switch?

Subscribers who are Shopify customers with email marketing consent stay in your Shopify admin, in the Email subscribers segment, whatever popup app you use. Contacts stored only in another system may need exporting. Check where your list lives before you uninstall anything, and keep records of consent.

Can I use a popup app with my existing email tool?

Usually, yes. Many popup apps sync directly with tools like Klaviyo, Omnisend or Mailchimp. Others, like Kodra Play, save emails as Shopify customers with consent, and any email tool that syncs Shopify customers can pick them up. Check each app's listing for its integrations.
